Great start - it drug me in. I’ll definitely be reading it when published and will get a copy for my, now, 96 YO father-in-law as well. He doesn’t read much anymore but I think he’d love it. His ancestors came from the Waterford/Wexford area of Ireland as part of the “plantation fishery” in rural Newfoundland maybe two centuries before the potato famine. Most of that history is lost in the dust of time and the ashes of the burned local Catholic Churches that were the only places who kept records. The family relocated to St. John’s in the 1960’s as part of resettlement but maintain their Irish traditions.
“as hard as the Catholic Church tried, the people of rural Ireland knew as well as anyone how that worked…” just killed me. excellent. Onward!!!
Onward, Gordon!
I'm hooked. Can't wait to read the rest.
Terrific, Pete.
